Sunday Message July 12,2026 The Spirit Of Christ Gives Life (Romans 8:1–11)
“In Romans 8, Paul contrasts the flesh and the Spirit.

When he says we rely strictly on the flesh: meaning our own flawed human strength, self-will, and independent striving—we will ultimately fail to achieve the life God wants for us. We can’t conquer sin or find true life on our own steam.

But through the Spirit: God’s own resurrection power flows through us (verse 11). It’s not that we stop acting; it’s that our action is now powered by the Holy Spirit, allowing us to accomplish what would be completely impossible on our own.”
Verse 11 is a anchor for Christians. Think about the scale of power Paul is talking about here, really think about it.
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you
The exact same power that restarted Jesus’ heart in the tomb is living inside a believer.
It is a promise of future resurrection, but also a promise of present life. It means you don’t have to navigate life, trials, or temptation on your own depleted battery. You are plugged into the ultimate power source.

ROMANS 8: LIFE IN THE SPIRIT
In July 2026, we will focus our Sunday series on Romans 8. The Apostle Paul has just dealt with salvation in Jesus Christ and the Christian life (Romans 1-7). Now in Romans 8, the Apostle Paul explores how the 3rd Person of the Triune God, the Holy Spirit, empowers us to live the Christian life. The Holy Spirit is in us and is with us. The Holy Spirit perseveres with us until the Day Of Glory.
