Join Us on May 3, 2026 for Sunday Service at 10:30 AM “Sunday Message: Anointing From The Holy One (1 John 2:18-27)

This is in preparation for the Sunday message May 3, 2026. If you have time, please read

1 John 2:18-27 (NIV) and reflect over these questions

Sunday Message: Anointing From The Holy One

Scripture Reading: 1 John 2:18–27-“But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.” — 1 John 2:20

  1. Understanding the Anointing- In the New Testament, the “anointing” isn’t just a ritual with oil; it is the gift of the ____Spirt dwelling within every believer.
  • An anointing must contain two things: The _______ of God and the______ Spriit
  • The Word provides the truth, and the Spirit provides the teaching to help us understand and apply that truth (1 John 2:27).

Ponder These Questions: When you feel an anointing considers these things.

  1. How is God leading you? Is there a specific area of your life where you feel the Holy Spirit “nudging” you toward a change or a new direction?
  2. Is it Biblically Sound? Does what you feel God is saying align with the Bible? The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Holy Scriptures.
  3. Are you abiding? To “abide” means to remain or stay. Are you staying close to Jesus through prayer this week?
  1. Identifying the “Anti-Christ”

The term “Antichrist” can sound intimidating, but John explains it simply so we can stay alert.

  • Definition: “Anti” means _______ or in place of.
  • An antichrist is anyone who spreads ______    teaching that contradicts the nature of Jesus.
  • The Litmus Test: According to verse 22, the spirit of the antichrist is defined by _______ the Father and the Son.

Take-Home Note: False teaching often looks like the truth but leaves out the Lordship of Jesus. We protect ourselves from deception by “letting what you heard from the beginning abide in you” (v. 24).

Weekly Prayer Focus: Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit. Help me to listen to Your guidance and stay rooted in Your Truth so I am not led astray. Amen.

Additional Reading: Learning to Listen: Like young Samuel in 1 Samuel 3, we must position our hearts to say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” The Holy Spirit speaks most clearly to those who are ready to obey.
