Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.

Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (Psalm 127 v1 NIV)

It has been 9 months since I start work as your pastor at St. Andrew’s Streetsville. It has been a long and busy 9 months. In the early stage, I went forward with a lot of energy and enthusiasm but soon discovered that I was proceeding in my personal strength and not on the Lord’s. I was praying and reading the Bible but I felt that subtlely I was doing a lot of work as “the new pastor” and not truly relying on God. By the end of May, I realised this and began to slow down relying more on God and other people he has placed in ministry at St. Andrew’s. After this Sunday, I will be taking 3 weeks off during which I will be in Malaysia for 2 weeks. Please pray for me that I will have a profound time off and that God will keep Luke and me safe as we go to Malaysia.

Yesterday we completed the repaving of our parking lot and painting in the parking bays. Please have a look at our Facebook page for the pictures. We need to let everything settle down until Saturday when they will put the curbs in. Therefore, the first time our repaved parking lot will be used is this coming Sunday, July 30. We are thankful to God that we have been able to finally complete this project. As the quote above goes, it is the Lord who builds his house.

As we look into the Fall church activities, I would like to ask you to pray that God will help us find volunteers to serve in our ministries. I pray that just as God gives us the resources to repave our parking lot in July, he will give us the resources to fill these ministry positions in September:

  • Nursery/Toddler Room: 6 people to serve once every 6 weeks
  • KIDZChurch: 1 more teacher
  • Youth Discipleship Group (Sunday mornings): 1 more teacher
  • Audio and visual ministry people
  • Sunday donation counters
  • Choir members
  • Treasurer for 2018

Remember it is the Lord who builds his house. He might use us but it is he who builds it.

Sincerely,
Pastor Pye
